Every home in every part of Australia is different, and the cause behind low phone signal or slow mobile broadband speed can be just as unique. Some houses are surrounded by dense trees, others might have a hill between their home and the cell tower, and some of us live miles and miles from the nearest tower.
For every cause of low signal there’s an antenna to match – some are designed to work in areas that have lots of trees, and others are designed for super long range.
Before we can know what sort of antenna is needed, we first need to understand what is causing your low signal. Orbit provide a 3G/4G Signal Study which is a computerised investigation of the cell towers in your area. One of our experienced technicians takes time to work out what is causing the low signal at your house and recommend the best matching antenna to solve the problem.
No need to have a technician drive hours to visit your property, simply order the signal study online and sit back while we take care of it.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Mobile phones and mobile broadband dongles communicate with the cell tower using radio waves, a bit like your TV. In low phone signal areas you may need an antenna installed on the roof just like your TV does.
A cable runs from the antenna on the roof where signal is stronger and inside into a device like the Cel-Fi mobile booster which boosts phone signal up to 5 bars inside the house.
Orbit’s technicians have access to some of the most powerful computer analysis tools on the planet. When you order the Signal Study we’ll sit down and use advanced computer software to work out what cell towers are nearby, and then calculate the effects of hills and trees, quickly revealing what is causing the issues and then it’s a matter of recommending the matching antenna.
We can even help arrange installation of the antenna using our huge network of installers right across Australia.
For business customers, and those in really tough locations we provide a more detailed engineering study which uses more advanced software to study the impact of terrain and interference, and provide more carefully calculated signal strengths. The radio modelling involved in this study can be used to work out the best location on a property to install a 3G/4G repeater, or for construction and mining it can be used to advise the best place to erect a site office or exploration camp.
